Accreditations for the Signage Industry

When choosing a supplier for your signage or graphics project, you’ll want to consider factors such as experience in the industry, value for money, flexibility, responsiveness, use of safer working practices, and commitment to environmentally friendly practices. A good way of understanding the technical ability, quality and professionalism of a supplier is to explore their industry accreditations.

Professional accreditation helps to reassure private and public companies that they are buying from companies that have been assessed in line with government and industry standards. Certification helps suppliers to manage the administration of projects, to improve efficiency and show prospective customers that they are a reputable business.

Constructionline, the UK’s leading procurement and supply chain management service allow companies to become certified members once they have demonstrated that they meet rigorous assessment criteria. An SMAS Worksafe certificate shows that a business has met the SSIP core criteria recognised by the HSE and other SSIP accreditation schemes. Meeting the SSIP Core Criteria demonstrates that a business is serious about Health and Safety and that they have (and use) an effective H&S Management System to ensure that any work they are engaged in is, so far as reasonably practical, carried out without risk to health and safety.

A certified ISO 9001 quality management system ensures clear processes and (communication) structures, tasks and responsibilities throughout the supplier’s entire organisation.  UKAS accredited certificates are accepted across the world as evidence that a business meets global standards of best practice. Not all ISO 9001 businesses have been certified by a recognised UKAS accreditation body, so it’s worth checking.

Obtaining SSIP accreditation demonstrates to a buyer that the supplier is competent in health and safety practices and procedures, and therefore a business that is safe to work with. Accreditation from an SSIP scheme is also mutually recognised by all other SSIP members. As such, accreditation from one SSIP member is sufficient to meet the criteria of the other members; thus, suppliers only require accreditation from one SSIP scheme, preventing the requirement to perform multiple health and safety assessments.

Citation Ltd has carried out an inspection of the premises and installed a Health & Safety Management System which enables the organisation to demonstrate their management of a safe working environment.

PASMA stands for Prefabricated Access Suppliers’ and Manufacturers’ Association. This qualification is recognised in the construction industry for those operatives working at height on mobile access towers. The training courses are approved by HSE and the UK Contractors Group.

The IPAF Card or PAL (Powered Access License) is recognised as worldwide proof of platform operator training to the highest standard. They are issued by the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) to platform operators who successfully complete their training.

The Woodland Carbon Scheme is a voluntary, accredited and award-winning carbon removal scheme which aims to help reduce the UK’s carbon by mitigating carbon emissions. This is achieved by allowing organisations and individuals to fund tree planting in the UK in coordination with the Woodland Trust.
